Hi! My name is Ciaran Kavanagh and this is my first ever blog post, its all very unusual to me. A few things to know about me are I am from Borris in Co.Carlow. I am twenty one years old and I am currently in my fourth and final year of Bachelor of Business in SETU. I love attending college so this year will be strange to me as I am nervous to graduate! I chose the accounting stream last year and this year will be similar to last year, hard and very exam based. My favourite hobbies is sports! I love watching, talking about and playing sports. My favourite sport is soccer. My favourite team is Chelsea, even though they haven't been very good recently 😂                                                             The module I am writing this blog for is Digital Economy and from what I've grasped so far is we will be learning abou...

Search Engine Optimization

Hi Guys, Welcome back to another blog. This week, I will be telling you my ideas on how to optimize web traffic from search engines such as Google or Bing. Increasing Visibility on search engines and the web traffic from the search engine could make or break a business who does not have a huge budget for marketing! 😀 My Tips 1. Write Quality, Original Content ✌ If a reader finds your website and enjoys what they see, finds new original sources, they will return to your site. This will increase your websites traffic and lead to your site being recommended to people who make similar searchers as the original reader.  2. Create Snippets 📍 If someone is searching a question, they don't want to read through page after page of results to find the answer. Creating snippets such as bullet-point lists with simplistic writing could drive your website to the top of the search page leading to more clicks on your website.  3: Organise your Title and Description 📝 Your title and website ...

Building CRM Knowledge

Hi Guys, this weeks blog is all about learning!  I will be using  https://trailhead.salesforce.com/  as a learning tool to build my knowledge of customer relationship management. Trailhead is free and an excellent source of knowledge. This will be my first time using it so I will be sharing my experience and what I learned from their available courses!👍 What I learned    ✅ The first module I viewed was about predicting and forecasting sales. Forecasting is so important as it is basically viewing a companies overall 'health'. Using Salesforces collaborative forecasting tool. the best way to forecast sales with confidence is by using real time data, making the forecast around how your company does business and using visuals , built in charts to predict change and create comparison between different periods. 💰 The second module I viewed was a comparison between the Salesforces admins and business analyst roles. The first difference I noticed was that the admins r...

E-Commerce & Internet Technologies

Hi Everyone, in this weeks blog, I will be reviewing online platforms that can be integrated into a website to elevate a business's engagement in E- Commerce. After reviewing these platforms, I will be recommending online platforms for three different business, A gym, a new clothing boutique and a Cafe. These recommendations are intended to increase the businesses growth and software.🖧 A New Gym            I would recommend  https://www.vagaro.com/  to a start up gym. They are a web based solution for fitness centres to promote their services and connect to their customers through their website. As its a start-up gym, they can avail of Vagaro's email marketing feature to bulk promote their services. They can also make a personalised website hosted by Vagaro and customize it with their service menu, pricing etc. 💪 A New Clothing Boutique              For a new clothing boutique, I would recommend  https://w...

It's All About Engagement!

Hi Guys, Another blog from me today, this week I'm going to be looking at how to engage my audience with my posts, hopefully its not to late 😉. Grabbing and keeping an audience's attention is critical to successful communication so I will be explaining some ideas I used to keep you engaged with my posts.                                                                 Firstly, I identified my target audience, being college students. It's no secret that no student has the time or willpower to read page after page of my posts, so I like to keep my posts short and to the point instead of writing pages for the sake of it. I feel like my posts being short and efficient is a good way to capture my audiences attention.📢 I also didn't want my posts just to be a white background with a load of black text, so I add images and emojis ...

Big Data, Good or Bad?

Welcome back to another blog! I feel like I am getting good at this thing now, I hope everyone reading these are still as interested as they were on week one 🤣. Today, I am going to be talking about Data, and if its a presents challenges to companies. I will be discussing this statement: ' Big Data  presents several potential ethical and social challenges'. What is big data? Well it doesn't have a specific definition but i t is usually associated with complex and large datasets on which special tools and methods are used to perform operations to derive meaningful information and support better decision making.  Sounds great right? so why would there be challenges when using or reviewing large sums of data? Let me break some down.  Discrimination & Bias    👥 When we look at data, we are of course looking at past information that has been collected, but what if that data had been collected from a bias point of view? This can cause people using the said...

Companies who have used Enterprise Applications successfully to support their business model

Hi, Welcome back to yet another blog, It's been a minute 🤣.  Following on from my last blog where I explained how it is difficult for companies to implement information systems, this week ill be talking about companies that used Enterprise Applications successfully to support their business model.  Amazon   💰 Amazon is one of, if not the biggest company in the world today and they used enterprise applications to completely reshape their industry. With the sheer amount of size of products and customers on Amazon's website daily, efficient enterprise applications are crucial to their success. Amazons employs a huge amount of enterprise applications to manage its supply chain, track delivery and establish a personalised customer experience, this leads to a vast selection of products, quick delivery and exceptional customer service. 📠 Ryanair  🚀 Ryanair is Ireland's most popular airline due to its low-cost business model 🪐. They achieve this model due to their...

Why do companies struggle to implement Information Systems?

Hi! Welcome back to another one of my blog posts, hopefully my work is improving with each upload👀. Last week, I briefly mentioned that companies invest in Ireland due to the quality of the technological industry meaning they can implement the use of information systems. This week, I'll be looking into why for some companies the implementation of information systems can be problematic for their business.  Finances Of course a massive factor when installing information systems is the cost of it. The cost isn't just simply purchasing the systems, other expenses will be maintenance, upgrades, expansions and staff training. None of these will be cheap and companies will have to make the decision if the information systems are actually beneficial or detrimental to the company in the long run. This was seen in 2011 when GE poured billions into asserting itself into the digital software space, which failed in the long run and the CEO was forced out. 💸 Staff When a company installs...
